Tree Nurseries and Afforestation
MECOSI has established a tree nursery dedicated to producing both indigenous and exotic tree seedlings,supporting afforestation efforts across Makueni County.
These seedlings are distributed to farmers, schools, and institutions to enhance environmental conservation and combat deforestation. In 2023, MECOSI supplied 10,000 seedlings to local schools, significantly contributing to the county’s afforestation initiative.
Through continued collaboration with communities and stakeholders, MECOSI remains committed to fostering a greener, more resilient environment for future generations.
Water Harvesting and Management
MECOSI actively promotes innovative water conservation techniques to enhance
water security in Makueni County. The organization advocates for the construction of sand dams, installation of water tanks, and the use of recycling systems to ensure sustainable water management.
Poultry Farming Initiatives
MECOSI’s Poultry Farming Initiative is designed to empower community members by
equipping them with the knowledge, resources, and market linkages needed to establish and
sustain successful poultry businesses. The initiative provides training on best poultry
management practices, including proper feeding, disease control, and breeding techniques,
ensuring farmers maximize productivity and profitability. Additionally, MECOSI supplies high
quality chicks to farmers, enabling them to start or expand their poultry enterprises with
minimal financial strain.
Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion

Additionally, the organization engages stakeholders in training and advocacy efforts, emphasizing the importance of peaceful coexistence in achieving long-term
