About Us
The Makueni Environmental Conservation Shift Initiative (MECOSI) is a community-based organization (CBO) founded in 2020 in Kanaani/Nthangu village, Makueni County, Kenya. MECOSI was founded by a group of dedicated individuals passionate about environmental conservation and sustainable farming responding to growing environmental challenges and community needs.
Through climate-smart practices, water harvesting, and reforestation, we empower local people to protect their environment while improving their livelihoods.
Our mission is to restore balance between nature and development, ensuring that future generations inherit a greener, healthier world. With collaboration, innovation, and commitment, we strive to turn environmental challenges into opportunities for growth, resilience, and prosperity. Together, we can create lasting change—one tree, one drop of water, and one empowered community at a time.
